Personal Interests: I enjoy running, cooking, and watching movies. I am also a local history buff. Because of this interest, I have made some web pages about the states that I have lived in. One is about an abandoned railroad in Northwestern Connecticut (where I grew up.) You can see it by clicking here. I am also making another web page about my travels in Oklahoma; the current version can be seen here. Here are some links to science curriculum projects that I think are interesting: POGIL This is a problem based learning format that has become very popular in chemistry. It is loosely based on the learning cycle. The website includes some very good downloadable activities Chemistry in the Community This is a context based chemistry course meant for the high school level. It was created by the American Chemical Society. Salters Advanced Chemistry This is a very good British A-level context based chemistry course. It is roughly equivalent to an AP Chemistry or 1st year college chemistry course. It was developed at the University of York and I highly recomend learning about it. I am currently employed by the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. The museum's education department offers a number of opportunities for both children and adults, including fossil digs, classroom programs, after school programs, and movie festivals. |
