Le Flore County, OK Talimena Drive

Talimena Drive operates on the principle that while the quickest way from Point A to Point B might be around mountains and through passes, the most scenic way is straight over the peaks (this might no longer be considered the most environmentally friendly way of building a road!) OK Highway 1 is an Oklahoma (and Arkansas) gem, running through the Ouachita National Forest. There are rest stops closely spaced to one another so that even the driver gets to enjoy the views. It is most definately not a good idea to take it when it's snowy or icy. It runs completely parallel to OK 63 (2/2007)
